Flimsy Done

Although I am behind schedule, the flimsy is complete. It has been a fun project. Now I wonder how many days it will take me to sandwich, machine quilt and bind it?
Wouldn't this pattern be fun with Kaffe Fassett's prints and black in place of the cream? Hmmm....I think I feel another project coming on.

I Have Been Tagged...

by Perry at OKperi's Place to tell you 7 thinngs weird or random facts about myself, so here goes.

1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post THE RULES on your blog.
3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.
4. Tag 7 people and link to them.
5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

(1) I am a cookie addict. I will eat a whole bag of cookies all by myself in l
less than 24 hours. After the first 10 or so I don't even enjoy them; I just keep eating them.
(2) I have traveled a lot and love it. My travels have taken me to Africa (3x), Israel, New Zealand, Scotland, England, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands & other Europe countries that I cannot remember right now and the wonderfully diverse USA.
(3) One of my most favorite escape movies is "Under the Tuscan Sun," but I love the book even more.
(4) I really like the smell of permanent markers. Everytime I open one to use it I smell it before I use it and before I cap it. Does this make me bad?? I have a secret fear (not so secret anymore I guess) that one of these times I'm going to sniff it too closely and have a colored nose. Now, how would I ever explain that?
(5) Since turning 40 I have run a 1/2 marathon and a full marathon (26.1 miles). I would love to run some more in the future too.
(6) I have known my dear husband since I was 8 years old. Our parents were best friends and our families took vacations together and spent holidays together as we were growing up.
(7) My favorite hot beverage is a latte made with half and half. And since I have now finished this meme I think that I need a latte and some cookies (but only two). :-)
I am now tagging: Toni, my dear sister Patty, Tracey, and my fellow Oklahoman Mama Koch. Since this meme has been going around a lot again, I will also be a rebel and only tag 4.

The New Love of My Life

Let me tell you about my new tool toy.

First, let me say that I had researched and researched. I've toyed with getting a Dyson for over a year after listening to my youngest sister rave over her's during our family Christmas 2006. But still..."Can a vacuum really be that good?" I thought. YES! Can a vacuum be worth that much money? YES!

I almost talked myself out of it. I looked at Orecks after listening to a dear friend's love for hers. I almost just gave up on vacuums totally. The one I had was completely worthless. I would go over one session of carpet a gazillon times only to have it still look the same: dirty. And my sewing room with all those little threads? Forget it! It had been to the repair shop; it had its bag changed each time I used it. It hated me, and I hated it.

Then I met Dyson. For the first time in my life I LOVE, yes LOVE, a vacuum cleaner. I vacuumed the whole living area of my house last night. I used the way too cool "Quick-draw Telescope Reach™ wand" to vacuum (with such ease it isn't funny) all the spider webs off my high ceiling. I emptied the bagless canister 2 times last night. Two times!! It was so gross and yet so much fun to think all that dust and dirt was gone.

I bought (really dh bought me) the Dyson DC17 Absolute Total Clean from Sam's Club.

All I can say is, "Why did we wait so long?"

A Work in Progress

This quilt has been withheld from the blogging world because it is a gift for my dmil who is now visiting with us. So I figure it is safe to blog it now--I think-I hope.
The colors has been so much fun to work with.
The top is sewn together, and the pieced borders are made. Hopefully tomorrow while they are out house-hunting I can get the borders sewn on. My goal is to complete the quilt by the 20th so that she can take it home with her.
I choose to go with the cream neutrals instead of "light" prints, but now I'm not so sure if I like it. The top looks "naked" to me, but I think that once the colorful pieced border is on it will frame it all nicely. After the borders are on I will show it to her. Then I'll be able to machine quilt the top when she is around.
We went to Oklahoma Quiltworks this afternoon. My next project has been decided!

Lunch Sack Gift Bag

A quilting blog that I enjoy reading belongs to Screen Door. The other day she post a picture of some really cute gift bags that I just had to make.

Here is my cute little bag.

When I showed it to one of my dils she thought it was nice but wondered what I'd use if for. That was a good question that I hadn't really thought through yet. I was too focused on its cuteness. The pattern came from allpeoplequilt.com, and now I pass it onto you. The pattern has two sizes; mine is the large size.

This is a picture of the button loop before and after. Let me tell you how difficult those tiny guys are! In the future I will use something else for the button loop.

Friday afternoon I'm off for another visit to the dentist. It is time for more work on my root canal. I'd rather be quilting-rather being doing anything really.

My Mom has been busy

My Mom is such an inspiration to me. Let me share with you some of her recent projects. I swiped her photos from her blog -with her permission of course.

I LOVE this frame because it is so perfect for the photo. The picture is amazing to me! My ds#1 is holding his second born son. Mom and I both love the picture.

Sister's Choice gave a tutorial on napkins that I love. I made some (haven't got around to posting them yet) and sent two to my Mom. She really liked them and wanted to uses the simple pattern for placemats. At a craftshow she found a pattern for the placements. She loves batiks and purple.

She too is excited about having another girl added to the family.

Look at the red curls! I love it!
